Call for Tutorials
The CBMI 2009 Program Committee invites proposals for the Tutorials Program of CBMI 2009, the 7th International Workshop on Content-Based Multimedia Indexing, to be held June 3-5, 2009, in Chania, Crete, Greece.
The International Workshop on Content-Based Multimedia Indexing aims at bringing together the various communities involved in the different aspects of content-based multimedia indexing, such as audio analysis, image processing and computer vision, with a specific focus on information retrieval, matching, indexing, summarization etc, as well as looking at current industrial trends and developments. For 2009 it is scheduled to take place at Chania, Crete on June 3-5, 2009. Tutorials will take place on June 2, 2009, at the same venue as CBMI, the KAM Arsenali Conference Centre.
Tutorials are usually half-day and should aim to address a specific topic within the scope of CBMI and should provide a comprehensive overview of the topic addressed. The audience is mostly graduate students. The topic should be of sufficient relevance with respect to the state of the art and the course should be educational in nature rather than just a survey of techniques.
Anyone who is interested can submit a CBMI 2009 tutorial proposal.
The proposal should include:
Proposer's name, address, email, and short bio-sketch
A course description in syllabus like form
Names of other lecturers and short bio-sketches
Relevant publications of the proposer(s) with respect to the topic
Length of course & estimated attendance
Whether PDF slides will be available for inclusion in the CDROM
Whether there will be a web page about the tutorial including slides.
Proposals should be submitted in text form by email to Noel O' Connor or Natasa Sofou before December 15th, 2008. Prospective proposers are strongly encouraged to contact Noel O’ Connor and Natasa Sofou in advance. Notification of acceptance of proposals is scheduled for January 12th, 2009.
Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated benefit for our community and on their appropriateness to the workshop program as a whole. Factors to be considered include: relevance, timeliness, importance, and audience appeal; suitability for presentation; and past experience and qualifications of the instructors. Selection will also be based on the overall distribution of topics, expected attendance, and specialties of the intended audiences.
